I had a great stay at the Marriott Hotel in Owings Mills, Maryland. The staff truly made the experience stand out. A special shoutout to Dawn, the bartender, who made my evenings there especially enjoyable. We talked about the Ravens game (and how bad it was 😅), and I genuinely enjoyed the conversation. She was friendly, welcoming, and made my stay very pleasant. I also want to recognize Dashon, who was extremely nice and professional, and Tanay, who was an absolute joy to be around. Their positive attitudes and great customer service really made a difference. Overall, excellent service, friendly staff, and a very enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back.

“Wonderful hotel”

I stayed here last week for work and it was wonderful. Everything from Joshua at the check in to the morning attendant at the M club (I think his name was Reginald) to the amazing room, gym and just everything. How lucky was I to be here for work?

I want to leave this review because it is imperative that positive experiences be shared amongst one another. I stayed at this property on 9/21… but technically 9/22. Let me explain. My mom is an avid Detroit Lions fan and I took her to Baltimore for the game. We landed and went to LIVE! Casino. Stayed there until 4am! We were scheduled to stay at an Airbnb. Arrived at the property’s sketchy location and it was nothing like the photos or the description. The place was disgusting. I refused to allow my mom to stay there so we googled a hotel and thankfully stumbled upon this Marriott location. The Overnight Agent, Jamilla, was a godsend. She found the final available room for us. We were able to get an early early check in. Jamilla made us feel comfortable and made sure we had a safe place to stay. We also were afforded a late late check out (2pm) because I used my Platinum AMEX for the stay with my Bonvoy enrollment. I’d stay at this property over and over and over again. The property’s manager was also very kind. Actually any staff we encountered were amazing!

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but not happy with 2 things that happened. Off the top, which is not their fault, I tried to book my reservation via the app with my points. Even though the app offered to let me use my points, once I selected to use them, the transaction didn't go through, so after calling 3 different phone numbers, a representative was finally able to help me to apply my points to cover my stay. Here is where my grievances come in. 1) I was only scheduled to stay one night but due to a business emergency, I needed to extend my stay. I called the front desk the morning of my initial check out date to see if they could accommodate an extension and they said I could extend my stay. The front desk person over the phone never asked me what method of payment I wanted to use to extend my stay, nor did they quote me the rate for the night. That evening when I returned from my day out, I went to the front desk to inquire about how payment would be handled because I wasn't seeing any additional Marriot Bonvoy points deducted or anything charged to my card. I made a point to tell her I would like to apply more points to cover the night because as a Gold Elite member with a Marriot credit card, I have more than enough points to cover that night. The front desk person told they didn't have the ability to see anything on the screen for my stay regarding this nor could they make any changes. But what this front desk person did tell me was that since it's an extended stay (not a rebook), the same form of payment would be used. So when I go to check out the next day, I found out that they charged my card for the stay. I told the front person at check out what the person front desk person told me about the same form of payment would be used for my extended stay and they told me the other front desk person was incorrect. So that's actually grievance 1(a), that your employees are not well informed on billing policies and gives out costly false information. To add insult to injury, the front desk person I inquired about this with during check out had the nerve to point out that I signed off to pay all room and incidental charges. I said no, that signature was for the 1st night which was paid for by my Marriot Bonvoy points, so if you all want to use my signature for the extended stay, then you all need to use the same form of payment for the extended stay. The front desk person at check out told me that although it's a Marriot Hotel, it's run by Cresent Hotels and that in order to apply my Marriot Bonvoy Points, I need to call the loyalty program to do so, which makes absolutely no sense to me if I am trying to use Marriot Bonvoy points at an actual Marriot hotel. The bottom line is, I never once authorized the use of my card for a hotel stay and technically, using my card without my consent for other then what I applied the card for is against the law and I would be well within my legal right to follow up on this. Grievance 2) I had the Privacy sign on my door from the start of my trip through my extended day. When I came back from my day out on my extended day, I found that Housekeeping had been in my room. I give them a slight pass because having worked in hotels in college, I know that Housekeeping probably had their daily cleaning schedule before I called to extend my stay and I know that guests can leave and forget to place the Privacy Sign back inside. HOWEVER, once they opened the door and saw things were inside, they should have closed the door and called the front desk to see if the room is occupied on record, not go in and proceed to clean. While I am happy none of my things appear to be missing and they did tidy up a bit, it is a grave violation of privacy while I was still occupying the room. Overall, the hotel is gorgeous, the room was absolutely amazing, the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower had great water pressure, the aesthetic of the surrounding area is peaceful with variety of places to eat. I actually would recommend the stay here. But beware of billing and privacy.
