This is the type of experience you expect from a Fairfield Inn. The hotel is conveniently located two minutes from the expressway. It has nice open working/social area. Staff is very friendly. The rooms are very comfortable. And, the workout facility is one of the better Fairfield workout facilities that I have experienced.

I realize I'm getting to be an old road warrior -- I've been traveling for work since the 1980s. With the advent of videoconferencing and my advancing years, I'm doing less traveling these days. It has been years since I've written a review, but this experience compelled me to document something important: that people really do make ALL the difference. Road warriors appreciate consistency and location. We need a hotel we know we can count on and that is near where we need to be for work. Marriott's Fairfield chain usually fits the bill (occasionally they miss the mark). The Fairfield in Spartanburg/Duncan is beautiful, clean, well located, and reasonably priced -- it ticks all the boxes. But that wouldn't be enough to cause this grizzled veteran to write a review. The thing that makes the difference -- the thing that ALWAYS makes the difference -- is the people. The front desk team sets the tone for the entire stay. They represent the hotel in a way that not the GM, nor housekeeping, nor maintenance, nor sales can ever hope to match. So imagine my delight when I met James and Marissa when I checked in this evening. Two more beautiful people, people who care, people who enjoy their guests, people who take a personal interest, cannot be imagined. I'm going to make some rather non-scientific pronouncements here, based on 40+ years of business travel. 15% of front desk people are awful and really need to find a different line of work 60% are fairly ordinary, competently checking you in, but that's about it 20% are special, engaged, friendly, and knowledgeable 5% are truly incredible, people you'd like to have as friends and on your team James and Marissa are in that top 5%. Well done to Fairfield for hiring them and keeping them. Clone them! Have them teach others to do what they do! Put them on your interview selection teams! These two fine people are the reason that this particular Fairfield stands head and shoulders above many other similar hotels.

“Beware of the deceptive wireless login”

It is a nice facility in a convenient location, but the television broadcast service kept dropping out so I ended up using my Firestick so that I could watch television. Also, be wary of the wireless login page. I got billed twice for wireless access.
