This was the second stop on our long awaited round the world trip which was organised with help from Turquoise who put together an amazing itinerary. We arrived on the early ferry from Perth. Our luggage was taken care of by the ferry company and delivered to the Samphire as part of their service. It was scheduled to be delivered in the afternoon to coincide with the hotel check-in time (around 4pm). We were fully aware of this and had daypacks with our essentials. We were able to walk around the main settlement, have lunch at one of the cafes, acquaint ourselves with the quokkas (they're everywhere!), visit the local museum and art gallery and have a splash in the sea at Pinky beach. We went back to Samphire around 3pm and our room was ready and our luggage had arrived. Our room was spacious with a balcony and in a quiet spot at the back of the hotel. Guests have access to the hotel beach bar area and the pool (gated to keep the quokkas out!). We ate at the Lontara restaurant which had excellent quality oriental food and the pool was very relaxing with plenty of sun or shade and freely available cabanas. There are plenty of eateries and shops in town (5 min walk) to pack a picnic and spend the day on the hop on buses around the island enjoying the fabulous beaches. We had 3 nights here and were able to fully enjoy the island from the Samphire. Definitely the most luxurious option on the island and very relaxed. On leaving were had to leave our main suitcases outside our room by 8am and they were whisked away to be put on our ferry while we checked out after breakfast at 11am. The ferry is a 5 min(level) walk and we had our day packs with us. Unfortunately our main luggage didn't make the ferry to Fremantle that we were on and we had to wait an our for the next one! Luckily the ferries to Rottnest are fast and frequent!
