“Great location & great value”

I am surprised by these recent negative reviews. We just got back from our honeymoon and it could not have been better! I am surprised by these recent negative reviews. We just got back from our honeymoon and it could not have been better! We stayed in what has to be the best room on the property (Room 303), had ocean views from every window, and the balcony was nice and private. Every person that worked at the hotel greeted us with "congratulations!", and even the hotel cat, Jasper, came and visited us on our balcony (after jumping on the roof of a lower floor to get there). The restaurant was closed but they did give us free breakfast every day, which was a great deal considering how expensive meals on the island can be. The breakfast was an a la carte menu so you could order everything on it if you wanted, and the food was good. The Best Buy supermarket is in walking distance and great for snacks (there is a mini fridge in the room). The amazing Meads Bay beach is a short walk away via a well marked path through the grounds of the hotel, which is filled with palm trees and local flora. Aside from breakfast in the dining room, we hardly saw another guest, and it felt very private. Considering the cost of the other hotels in the area, the Anacaona is a great value. As long as I can book room 303, I wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island.

We left St-Martin (the french side) running for the hills. We stayed here because our villa wasn't available ahead of time. *Please note we usually stay in 5 star hotels* This is NOT a 5 star hotel, but, IT IS a clean and cozy place, with friendly staff who embellish this place X 10. The access to the beach is a far trek ( especially for me who walks with a cane, or people with a handicap ) But I did it, so can you. On the plus side, There are beach lounge chairs directly facing (as far as we are concerned ) Meads bay. Plus you have direct access to Fishy ( Bamboo beer box beach bar). Which (BY THE WAY) people staying at the 4 seasons send their butler to order food and drinks from. We recommend this place very much.Even though it is only a 2-3 star place. It is clean, It has AC, WIFI, and Satellite. Plus 2 pools that have NO TRAFFIC WHATSOEVER!!

The hotel needs a little updating. It is 5 minute walk to the beach from the room. The breakfast was included in the rate and was delicious. Considering how expense food is on the island, a great thing. No other meal service at the hotel. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The beach hut had great food and decent prices on the drinks. I felt very safe and there were several restaurants you could walk to on the beach. The hotel rooms do need updating, but great value for the money. It was clean, just dated. Four Seasons next door - Sushi at Sunset Grill was great, but drinks were $18 each. Not very crowded.

Stayed here for 5 nights and in one of the larger rooms. The staff here are just lovely, kind and really helpful. Room: Needs updating - the plug sockets were worn meaning your plug just fell out of them a lot of the time. The patio door was broken so difficult to open and close. The bathrooms were too dark and no mirror in the main room. Very tired and needs some freshening up. No lifts available either so getting luggage in and out difficult. Hotel: The gardens need attention as the grass has dried out in places and a bit unkempt. The water fountain has dried up and looks abandoned. Friends had hired a villa and getting to it often meant almost walking into the bushes. The paving has worn too so it's a bit crazy paving in places. Pool: Main pool is lovely but sun beds need replacing - husband fell through his as it had a hole. Staff: Raquel is just lovely and she made the place for us. Morning breakfast lady was lovely too and so friendly. Breakfast: Served in the Firefly restaurant which is now just breakfast. Really good. Order what you want. I think I would come back just to see Raquel again (seriously the most lovely person in he world) but the hotel needs some investment. Another thing to point out is that we had an early dinner one evening and came back to find the hotel in darkness so we couldn't even get a drink which was a bit of a shame.
